GT vs CSK IPL 2026 Fixtures Swapped due to Municipal Corporation Elections
Indian Premier League (IPL) has aounced a significant change in the schedule for the upcoming fixtures between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Cheai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2026 season. The venues for the matches originally scheduled for April 26 and May 21 have been swapped, with the first match now set to take place in Cheai and the reverse fixture in Ahmedabad.
BCCI Makes Official Aouncement The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the revision in the schedule, citing the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat as the reason for the change. The afternoon match between GT and CSK, initially plaed for April 26 in Ahmedabad, will now be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Cheai, with the game kicking off at 03:30 PM IST.
Conversely, the return fixture between CSK and GT, scheduled for May 21 in the evening, will now be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, starting at 07:30 PM IST.
CSK and GT's Performance So Far Cheai Super Kings have faced a challenging start to the IPL season, losing three of their initial matches against Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. They managed to secure their first victory against Delhi Capitals, climbing from the 10th position to the 9th. Their next match is against Kolkata Knight Riders as they aim to improve their standing in the league.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have shown resilience after a slow start, defeating Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants following losses to Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Currently positioned 5th in the league standings, they are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 17.
