The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) made a historic aouncement during the inaugural session of its national executive meeting, as former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, was appointed as the party's new National Working President. The decision was met with enthusiasm and support from top leaders of the party.
In a momentous occasion, Tejashwi Yadav was officially declared as the National Working President by former Railways Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in the presence of his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister, Rabri Devi. The party took to social media, specifically X, to share the news, stating: "Dawn of a New Era! Shri Tejashwi Yadav Ji has been appointed as the National Executive President of Rashtriya Janata Dal."
This significant decision was made during the national executive meeting, where the top leaders of RJD gathered to discuss the party's future direction. The move comes after the party had previously indicated its intention to appoint Tejashwi Yadav as the National Working President, considering Lalu's health issues.
Following a comprehensive review meeting on January 16 and 17, which marked the party's first since its Assembly poll setback, RJD strategized to navigate its path forward. The party acknowledged the need for a strategic shift, especially after the decline in its Assembly seats from 80 to 35 in the previous year.
Tejashwi Yadav had engaged in strategic discussions with RJD's Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs ahead of the meeting, focusing on the upcoming Budget session of Parliament. The party is gearing up for a new phase under Tejashwi's leadership, aiming to strengthen its position and influence.
