South Africa Aounces Squad for 2026 T20 World Cup

The anticipation for the upcoming T20 World Cup is building up as South Africa has officially revealed their 15-player squad for the tournament set to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

Aiden Markram has been appointed as the captain of the South African team for the prestigious event. Alongside him, players like Corbin Bosch, Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, and Jason Smith have also earned their spots after showcasing impressive performances in recent series.

While the exclusion of Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton may come as a surprise to some, the return of Kagiso Rabada, who missed the recent white-ball series against India due to injury, adds depth to the squad.

Following their recent 3-1 series loss to India, South Africa is gearing up to face West Indies in a 3-match T20I series starting from January 27. This series will serve as a crucial preparation for the Proteas before heading to the World Cup.

South Africa finds themselves in Group D alongside Afghanistan, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates. They will kick off their campaign on February 9 against Canada at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Subsequently, they will face Afghanistan on February 11, New Zealand on February 14, and UAE on February 18 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
