In a bold move to support his party members and criticize the actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader, Manish Sisodia, visited the family of jailed AAP MLA Mehraj Malik. Sisodia addressed party supporters urging them not to lose hope in the face of adversity.
During a media briefing after his visit to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Sisodia expressed his concerns about the Modi government's tactics of silencing dissent by incarcerating individuals on false and fabricated charges. He highlighted the cases of environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk, former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain, and himself as examples of the government's repressive actions.
Sisodia remarked, "The Modi government's strategy seems to revolve around arresting anyone who dares to raise their voice against injustice. By manufacturing false accusations, fabricating evidence, and coercing statements from individuals, they aim to stifle dissent and instill fear."
Notably, on February 27, a Delhi trial court dismissed charges against Kejriwal, Sisodia, and 21 others in a CBI case related to an alleged liquor policy scam during the AAP government's tenure. The CBI has since challenged this decision in the High Court, citing it as "illegal."
Recently, the Delhi High Court intervened by issuing a stay on the trial court's criticisms of the CBI's investigating officer. Sisodia reassured party workers in J&K that their battle is against authoritarianism and urged them to remain steadfast, as he believes that the unfounded allegations against Malik will eventually crumble, similar to the outcome in Delhi.
Expressing dismay over individuals being imprisoned for advocating basic necessities like schools and hospitals, Sisodia condemned PM Modi's actions, predicting that history will remember him for capitulating to foreign interests and persecuting his own compatriots.
Concerned about the escalating job losses and diminishing trade opportunities, Sisodia questioned Modi's acquiescence to the US, portraying India as a mere "colony" on the global stage. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Sisodia's unwavering stance against injustice and his determination to support party members in times of adversity stand as a testament to his commitment to upholding democratic values.
