Railways Forms High-Level Committee to Investigate Rajdhani Express Fire Incident
The Railways has taken swift action in response to the recent fire incident on the Rajdhani Express by constituting a high-level committee to investigate the cause of the blaze and examine safety measures. The committee, nominated by the General Manager of WCR, includes senior officers from West Central Railway, ICF, and RDSO.
Committee Composition and Mandate Leading the investigative efforts, the Principal Chief Safety Officer WCR (PCSO) has been appointed as the Convener of the committee. Other key members include the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer WCR (PCEE), Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer WCR (PCME), Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer ICF, Executive Director PS & EMU RDSO, and Principal Chief Security Commissioner WCR (PCSC).
According to Railway protocols outlined in the Accident Manual, the committee has been tasked with completing the inquiry within a stipulated timeframe. Their primary focus will be on conducting a detailed examination of the incident's causes, technical aspects, and safety parameters to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Rajdhani Express Fire Incident near Ratlam The incident took place on Sunday morning around 5:15 am in an AC coach and one LWRRM (Luggage Brake & Generator Car) of the Rajdhani Express within Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam district. The fire was reported in the B-1 coach while the train was en route between Luni Richha (LNR) and Vikramgarh Alot (VMA) stations in the Kota Division of the WCR zone.
Following the incident, the Overhead Equipment (OHE) supply was promptly turned off, and the affected coach was detached from the train. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported among passengers or railway staff.
