Union Minister Jitendra Singh Slams Opposition, Accuses Rahul Gandhi of 'FOMO' in Lok Sabha

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh delivered a fiery speech in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, slamming the Opposition for politicizing students' issues and taking aim at Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi. Singh accused Gandhi of being driven by 'FOMO' - the fear of missing out - over his ambition to become Prime Minister.

During a discussion on tougher anti-paper leak legislation, Singh, who also serves as the Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, used Gen Z terminology to emphasize his point. Referring to Gandhi's aspirations, he stated, "He had FOMO (fear of missing out) as per Gen Z language."

The previous day, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj lauded the Modi government's swift actions by using the phrase 'clock it' in her parliamentary speech. Describing the bill as a "transformative amendment," Swaraj credited Prime Minister Modi for providing a legislative solution to the exam leak issue.

Singh also criticized Rahul Gandhi's sit-in protest outside the Prime Minister's residence on July 21, attributing it to Gandhi's unfulfilled ambition of becoming Prime Minister. He claimed that when efforts were made to persuade Gandhi to leave, the Leader of the Opposition allegedly insisted on being picked up by the police.

As Singh continued his address, Opposition MPs raised slogans inside the House, demanding justice. He further accused the Opposition of politicizing student matters and raised objections to unparliamentary remarks made by Gandhi, questioning the use of inappropriate language during the debate.

Referring to Gandhi's clarification that the word "idiot" was not directed at any specific individual, Singh expressed surprise at the Leader of the Opposition's lack of awareness of parliamentary norms. He highlighted concerns over whether students were being referred to in such a derogatory maer.

As the political tensions escalate within the Lok Sabha, the focus remains on the heated exchanges between the ruling party and the Opposition, with accusations and counter-accusations dominating the parliamentary discourse.
