Authorities in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, successfully neutralized a notorious terrorist, identified as Usman, a self-proclaimed commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad, on Friday. The operation, led by a joint team of security forces and the J&K police, culminated in the elimination of the militant who had been holding residents of Parhetar village hostage.
Upon receiving intelligence about Usman's presence in Kathua, a swift response was initiated by security forces, CRPF, and the local police teams. Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma confirmed that a gunfight ensued as the authorities rescued the civilians from the clutches of the terrorist, ensuring their safety before confronting Usman.
Despite facing resistance from Usman, the police team displayed exceptional valor as they disarmed him and thwarted his attempts to harm them. The seized M4 rifle used by the terrorist serves as a testament to the intensity of the encounter.
Usman, known for his involvement in multiple acts of violence against security forces and police persoel since 2024, had managed to evade capture during previous encounters. However, the relentless pursuit by law enforcement authorities eventually led to his demise in Kathua.
While the operation in Kathua marked a significant success in the fight against terrorism, security forces and police remain vigilant in their efforts to root out such elements from the region. Ongoing searches in the forests of Chhatru in Kishtwar underscore the commitment to maintaining peace and security in the area.
