Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made history with her ninth consecutive Budget presentation in Parliament on Sunday. Describing it as "historic," Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Union Budget 2026 for showcasing India's 'Nari Shakti' (feminine strength).

In a virtual address to the nation following Sitharaman's Budget presentation, Prime Minister Modi lauded the ambitious roadmap outlined in this year's Budget. He emphasized its focus on bolstering initiatives like 'Make in India' and 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.

Modi highlighted the Budget's significance in laying the groundwork for a prosperous future, aiming for a developed India by 2047. He commended the Budget for providing a platform for the country's youth to thrive and contribute to India's global stature.

Emphasizing the Budget's role in fostering trust-based governance and a human-centric economic framework, Modi underscored the importance of reducing fiscal deficit, controlling inflation, and promoting robust economic growth. The Budget also offers substantial support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to elevate their presence on a global scale.

Meanwhile, in the sports arena, 20-year-old Devika Sihag from Punjab clinched her first Super 300 level badminton tournament title in Thailand. Overcoming two seeded players, including the top seed, Devika's towering stature and aggressive playstyle secured her well-deserved victory, guided by former national champion Sayali Gokhale.
