Outrage in Maihar District as Students Served Midday Meal on Ink-stained Pages
Shocking video footage from a school in Madhya Pradesh's Maihar district has sparked outrage after students were served their Republic Day midday meal on ink-stained pages torn from old books. The incident, which took place at Government High School in Bhatigwan village, has prompted disciplinary action against senior school officials by the district administration.
Action Ordered Against School Officials The distressing incident occurred on January 26, when students were seated on the floor and served puri and halwa on scraps of paper. Following the circulation of the video on social media, Maihar District Collector Rani Batad confirmed that action had been initiated against those responsible, with a proposal to suspend the school's principal.
Investigation and Consequences Public Relations Officer for Satna and Maihar, Rajesh Singh, stated that the administration acted upon receiving a detailed inquiry report from District Project Coordinator Vishnu Tripathi. The in-charge principal of Government High School Bhatigwan, Sunil Kumar Tripathi, faces suspension pending further investigation.
Additionally, financial penalties have been imposed, with the salary of contract employee and Block Resource Coordinator Pradeep Singh being deducted for one month. Tripathi emphasized that the school administration was at fault for the unacceptable lapse in providing proper arrangements for the midday meal on a significant day like Republic Day.
Call for Strict Action Vishnu Tripathi stressed the need for accountability in ensuring basic norms are followed, submitting a report to the district administration recommending stringent action. The community awaits further updates as the situation unfolds.
