Mild Earthquake Tremors Rattle Virudhunagar District in Tamil Nadu
Residents of Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district experienced mild tremors on January 29, as reported by officials from the National Centre for Seismology. The tremors were felt in Virudhunagar, Srivilliputtur, and surrounding areas, prompting locals to step out of their homes for safety.
An official from the National Centre for Seismology confirmed the occurrence of mild tremors around 9:06 pm in Virudhunagar and nearby regions. The tremor, measuring a magnitude of 3, struck at a depth of 10 km, approximately 185 km southwest of Tiruchirappalli and 167 km southeast of Kochi, according to the update provided by the National Centre for Seismology on Friday.
Following the earthquake, residents took to social media to share their experiences. "Yes, experienced certain vibrations for a few seconds only," said N Yogaraj, while another resident, N Kishore Kumar, also reported feeling the tremors.
