The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh has taken swift action by removing the Bhind district Kisan Morcha president, Sajjan Singh Yadav, following a large rally involving multiple vehicles organized under his leadership. This move comes as a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for energy and fuel conservation.
In an official order issued on May 14, the state Kisan Morcha president, Jaipal Singh Chawda, expressed serious concern over a rally held on May 13 from Gwalior to Bhind that included "hundreds of vehicles." The party deemed this event, led by Sajjan Singh Yadav, as a display of disregard for the Prime Minister's plea to save energy and fuel.
Describing the act as "indiscipline," the party aounced the immediate cancellation of Yadav's appointment as the Bhind district president of the BJP Kisan Morcha, as per the instructions of state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal. Chawda emphasized the need for state leaders to adhere to the example set by the Prime Minister, who uses only two vehicles, and refrain from engaging in such activities.
This disciplinary action aligns with recent directives issued by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who aounced a reduction in the size of his convoy and urged ministers to minimize vehicle usage during official travel. In light of concerns over fuel consumption and global uncertainties related to the West Asia crisis, the Chief Minister reduced his convoy from 13 vehicles to eight and prohibited vehicle rallies during his tours.
The state government further instructed ministers to use the minimum number of vehicles possible and advised newly appointed heads of corporations and boards to assume office without elaborate processions or rallies. Yadav stressed the importance of fuel conservation as a matter of national interest and encouraged citizens to opt for public transport whenever feasible.
The BJP's decision to remove Yadav from his position underscores the party's commitment to internal consistency in promoting fuel-saving measures and avoiding contradictory political optics. The move aims to uphold the message of austerity and reduced fuel consumption advocated by the party leadership, particularly in the current climate of global uncertainty.
The recent controversy surrounding vehicle convoys in Madhya Pradesh gained attention when videos surfaced showing a substantial convoy accompanying the newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation chairman, Saubhagya Singh Thakur, on his journey from Ujjain to Bhopal to assume office. The visuals drew criticism from the Opposition, prompting BJP state president Khandelwal to issue a public appeal urging party members to heed the Prime Minister's message seriously.
Khandelwal emphasized the importance of aligning with Modi's guidance and ensuring that official activities reflect the principles of fuel conservation. While acknowledging the enthusiasm of newly appointed officials, he urged all party workers and leaders to prioritize the PM's directives in their actions.
