The Ministry of Railways has aounced a significant budgetary fund of Rs 10,134 crore for the development of rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh for the financial year 2026-27. This allocation marks a notable increase from the Rs 9,417 crore allocated to the state in the previous fiscal year.
Currently, various infrastructure projects worth Rs 92,649 crore are in progress across the state, aimed at enhancing coectivity and transportation facilities.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the detailed project report (DPR) for the Hyderabad-Cheai bullet train project is set to commence soon. This high-speed rail corridor is expected to bring significant benefits to Andhra Pradesh, revolutionizing travel in the region.
Vaishnaw emphasized, "The bullet train project from Hyderabad-Cheai will be a game-changer for Andhra Pradesh, with the DPR work starting imminently."
In a significant development, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled plans for three high-speed rail corridors in Hyderabad in the Railway Budget 2026. These corridors include Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bangalore, and Hyderabad-Cheai routes, aimed at reducing travel time and enhancing coectivity.
Under the Amrit Station Scheme, 73 railway stations in Andhra Pradesh have been identified for complete redevelopment, with a total investment of Rs 3,418 crore. These stations include key locations such as Vijayawada, Vishakhapatnam, and Tirupati, among others.
Notably, the upgradation work has already been completed at five stations, including Sullurpeta, Rayanpadu, Kakinada Town, Mangalagiri, and Tuni, with more stations set to undergo transformation in the coming months.
These initiatives are part of the government's efforts to enhance rail infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh and improve coectivity across the state.
