Maharashtra FDA Takes Action Against Bollywood Celebrities in Vimal Elaichi Advertisement Controversy

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has made it clear that no amount of celebrity status will shield stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff from regulatory consequences in coection with a Vimal Elaichi advertisement. The FDA issued show-cause notices to the actors after deeming the ad to be a surrogate promotion of Vimal Pan Masala, a baed product in the state.

Mundhe Asserts Law Will Take Its Course

Speaking to Samachar Times Hindi, Mundhe emphasized that the FDA has initiated adjudication and prosecution proceedings against one of the actors who failed to respond to the notice within the given timeframe. He stated, “According to you they may be stars, but according to me they are only advertisers in this case. So I am looking at them as violators of the law, and the law will take its own course. That’s why we have started taking action.”

Celebrities Face Consequences for Alleged Violations

The FDA issued show-cause notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff on August 11, providing them with 15 days to reply. Mundhe confirmed that two actors responded, while one did not. Proceeding in the case where no response was received, Mundhe stated, “We are starting the adjudicating and prosecution proceedings. In one case where they have not responded, we are starting the adjudicating and prosecution proceedings.”
