Indian Railways Clarifies Viral Video Alleging Stone Pelting on First Hydrogen Train

In a recent turn of events, Indian Railways has issued a statement debunking a viral video circulating on social media that claimed a stone-pelting incident on India's first hydrogen train. The train, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, operates between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana as part of Northern Railway's Delhi Division.

The Northern Railway clarified that the viral video in question is actually an old footage featuring a train operated by a WAG-12 locomotive, not the hydrogen train. The railway zone affirmed that the hydrogen train is ruing as per its designated schedule, refuting any claims of disruptions or attacks on the new technology.

Addressing the confusion, the zonal railway stated, "The train shown in the video is not a hydrogen train… it is a train operated by the WAG 12 loco. It is probably some old video. The hydrogen train is providing its services as per its scheduled time."

Amidst the online buzz, speculations arose about the funding of the hydrogen train, with some questioning the involvement of political figures or vandals. However, the railway authorities clarified that the project is financed by public taxes, emphasizing the importance of preserving public property and discouraging acts of vandalism.

As Twitter user Ramesh Tiwari succinctly put it, "Is Arvind Kejriwal’s father’s money invested in this Hydrogen train? Or Deepak’s father’s? The Jind-Sonipat hydrogen train, with the train numbers 74009 and 74010, covers a distance of 89 km in approximately two hours, boasting an operational speed of up to 75 kmph. The train route includes stops at 12 stations such as Jind City, Lalit Khera, Gohana, and Mohana Haryana, among others.

For eager passengers looking to catch a ride on this eco-friendly mode of transport, train number 74010 departs from Jind Junction at 7:40 am and arrives at Sonipat at 9:40 am. The return journey, with train number 74009, leaves Sonipat at 10:40 am, reaching Jind Junction at 1:00 pm.
