India is gearing up to host the India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting after a significant gap of 10 years. Co-chaired by India and the UAE, the meeting will see the participation of foreign ministers from various Arab League member states and the Arab League Secretary-General. Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, representing one of the 20 Arab countries attending the 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Delhi, emphasized the importance of increased Indian involvement in Gaza reconstruction efforts and continued support to UNRWA to address refugee needs. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the first meeting in 2016 in Bahrain identified five priority areas of cooperation: economy, energy, education, media, and culture. The 2nd India-Arab FMM aims to build upon these foundations, expanding and deepening the partnership between India and Arab nations. In a press conference at the Palestinian Embassy in Delhi, Foreign Minister Shahin praised India's support for Palestine's cause and emphasized the country's potential role as a mediator between Israel and Palestine. She commended India's clear stance on international law and expressed gratitude for its ongoing assistance in Palestine, particularly in the education sector. Sources suggest that the Gaza peace plan will be a key topic at the India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, along with broader discussions on peace and stability in the region. The meeting aims to foster dialogue and cooperation towards addressing critical issues in the Arab world. In a separate tragic event, two families bid farewell to Captain Sumit Kapur and First Officer Shambhavi Pathak, who lost their lives in a plane crash in Maharashtra. Captain Kapur, an experienced pilot, and First Officer Pathak, on the cusp of becoming a captain, were mourned by their loved ones and colleagues.
