A scorching heatwave is set to dominate Northwest India until Saturday, with Uttar Pradesh bracing for severe heatwave conditions, as per the latest forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Monsoon Activity Gains Momentum in Southern Regions As the monsoon season draws near, pre-monsoon activity has intensified across southern India. The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, coastal Karnataka, and Puducherry till Thursday, with thunder squalls expected to persist until May 21 in Mahe and Kerala.
Monsoon Advances into Southeast Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal Recent data indicates that the monsoon has advanced into various parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, Kaiyakumari area, and Bay of Bengal. The IMD anticipates further progression into these regions over the next few days, with strong and gusty winds forecasted along the east coast.
Warnings Issued for Fishermen and Coastal Regions With monsoon winds gaining strength, fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into certain areas near the Gulf of Maar, south Bay of Bengal, and Kaiyakumari region. Similar advisories are in effect for coastal regions off Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.
Heatwave Grips Northern India Day temperatures remain above normal in many parts of the country, with heatwave conditions expected to persist until May 23 in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience severe heatwave conditions until the same date.
