Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Releases First-Ever Alumni Impact Report on 68th Foundation Day

On its 68th Foundation Day, the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Delhi unveiled its inaugural Alumni Impact Report, showcasing the remarkable achievements of its over 65,000 alumni both in India and across the globe. The report revealed that around 10,000 IIT Delhi graduates are currently holding influential leadership positions in sectors such as banking and engineering, with over 650 alumni serving in public institutions, including 270 IAS officers.

The unveiling of the groundbreaking report took place during the institution's Foundation Day celebrations, where the report was released by Dr. Gurtej S Sandhu, Principal Fellow at Micron Technology and an esteemed alumnus of IIT Delhi. Dr. Sandhu emphasized the pivotal role played by alumni in shaping institutions beyond financial contributions, highlighting the importance of guidance and coections. He also stressed the global recognition that IITs have garnered through their illustrious alumni network.

The report further detailed the substantial impact of IIT Delhi alumni across various sectors, with approximately 70% of alumni in leadership roles based in India. Noteworthy figures from the report include over 2,500 founders and co-founders who have emerged from IIT Delhi, creating an estimated 48 lakh direct jobs. Renowned alumni entrepreneurs such as the founders of Flipkart, Zomato, Meesho, and Groww were also highlighted for their significant contributions to the entrepreneurial landscape.

Moreover, the report underscored the vital role of IIT Delhi alumni in public service, with over 650 alumni currently serving in various public institutions, including the civil services and public sector undertakings. Additionally, more than 50 alumni from the institute are serving as faculty members in prestigious universities worldwide, contributing to academic excellence.

The report also highlighted the remarkable growth of the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund, supported entirely by alumni contributions. Notably, the fund has received pledges worth Rs 477 crore, with a significant portion already realized. These funds are being utilized to support academic initiatives, scholarships, infrastructure projects, and research endeavors at the institute.

As IIT Delhi continues to thrive and expand its impact, the institution expressed gratitude to its alumni for their unwavering support and contributions over the years. With a rich legacy spaing decades, IIT Delhi remains at the forefront of technological and social progress in India.
