Indian Railways to Introduce Upgraded Amrit Bharat Express Trainsets
Indian Railways is set to enhance its fleet with the introduction of improved Amrit Bharat Express trainsets. The national transporter has aounced plans to manufacture two rakes of the upgraded Amrit Bharat 30 trains by the end of the financial year 2025–26.
Rollout of Amrit Bharat 30 Trains on the Horizon The Ministry of Railways is gearing up to unveil the Amrit Bharat 30 trainsets in the near future. Initially launched in 2023, these trains are tailored to offer passengers from the lower and lower-middle income categories an affordable yet high-quality travel experience, akin to the renowned Vande Bharat Express.
Enhancing Passenger Experience Unlike the existing Amrit Bharat services, the Amrit Bharat 30 trainsets will feature a combination of air-conditioned (AC) and non-air-conditioned (non-AC) coaches, striking a balance between comfort and affordability for passengers. The upgraded design is based on the operational insights gained from the Amrit Bharat 10 and 20 trains currently in operation.
Production Targets and Progress The national transporter aims to produce a total of 100 Amrit Bharat trains, with plans underway to roll out two rakes of Amrit Bharat 30 trains by the end of the financial year 2025–26. General Manager U Subba Rao highlighted this milestone during the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the ICF stadium in Cheai.
