Himanta Biswa Sarma to Become Assam's Chief Minister for Second Term

After being elected as the leader of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma is all set to take charge as the state's chief minister for a second term. The aouncement was made following a meeting of the BJP legislature party on Sunday, where Sarma was unanimously elected as the party leader in the state.

Staking Claim to Form New Government

Post the meeting, Sarma met with Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at the Lok Bhavan to stake a claim to form the new government. He asserted that he has the support of 102 MLAs from the NDA who emerged victorious in the recent polls.

The swearing-in ceremony of Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with the new Council of Ministers, is scheduled to take place on May 12. This marks a significant milestone for Sarma, who has been a prominent figure in Assam's political landscape.
