Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has voiced his disapproval of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's choice to include fast bowler Abhinandan Singh in the XI against Rajasthan Royals, resulting in the defending champions' first loss of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

The uncapped Indian right-arm pacer, Abhinandan Singh, has proven to be costly for RCB in his three appearances. Since his IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abhinandan has only managed to secure three wickets while conceding nearly 13 runs per over. In the match against RR in Guwahati, Abhinandan leaked 54 runs in just three overs, facing fierce competition from fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel.

Srikkanth warned that RCB's struggles will persist as long as Abhinandan continues to feature in the playing XI. He criticized the team's decision to persist with Abhinandan, labeling him as a "run feeder" and emphasized the need to reconsider their bowling options.

Despite having promising bowlers like Mangesh Yadav and Rasikh Salam, RCB opted for Abhinandan, a move that Srikkanth deemed as a significant error. He highlighted the absence of spier Suyash Sharma from the team and questioned the management's backing of Abhinandan despite his inconsistent performances.
