A seemingly devoted father from Kerur village in Maharashtra, Pandurang Kondmangale, is now facing grave accusations after allegedly pushing his daughter into a canal in neighbouring Telangana. The shocking incident unfolded as the 28-year-old man harbored political aspirations, seeking to become the sarpanch of his village amidst the upcoming rural local body elections in Maharashtra.
According to Sau Chaitanya, the Nizamabad Commission of Police, Kondmangale conspired with the current village sarpanch, Ganesh Shinde, to eliminate one of his children to meet the eligibility criteria of the Panchayat Raj Act, which restricts individuals with more than two children from contesting rural local body elections. The pair allegedly plaed to dispose of Kondmangale's six-year-old daughter, Prachi.
After considering adoption and abandonment as options, the duo purportedly decided to stage Prachi's death as an accident. Kondmangale took the unsuspecting girl on a trip to Nizamabad, where he allegedly pushed her into the Nizamsagar Canal and fled the scene. Despite the attempt to disguise the crime, vigilant villagers discovered Prachi's lifeless body in the canal.
Subsequently, the Telangana police, investigating the murder, identified Prachi through circulated images and confronted Kondmangale in his Maharashtra village. Initially claiming Prachi was receiving medical treatment, Kondmangale eventually confessed to the heinous act. He now faces charges of murder and criminal conspiracy, with the involvement of the current sarpanch as a co-conspirator.
