Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Eight in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal
An unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal, as a vehicle carrying a group from Ghansali met with a tragic accident. The group was returning after attending a funeral in Rishikesh, when the vehicle plunged into a gorge, resulting in the loss of eight lives and leaving two others injured.
Details of the Accident According to police reports, the vehicle fell approximately 300 meters into a gorge around 3 pm. The injured individuals were swiftly transported to District Hospital Baurari for treatment and are currently in stable condition. A health team from CHC Chamba has been dispatched for postmortem procedures.
Victims Identified The victims of the accident have been identified as Asha Lal (40), Vijay Lal (36), Prem Lal (60), Mahavir (60), Shiv Singh (35), Sehat Lal (65), and Lakshman (33). One individual remains unidentified at this time. The driver of the vehicle is also among those who tragically lost their lives.
Investigation Ongoing Police are actively investigating the cause of the accident, including whether speeding was a factor. The statements of the two injured individuals are yet to be recorded, as they are still recovering from the shock of the incident.
Response and Support Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident. He has directed the district administration to ensure immediate and adequate medical care for the injured, as well as to oversee relief and rescue operations without any delays. Continuous monitoring of the situation has been instructed by the Chief Minister.
