Vizag Steel Plant Gas Leak Leaves Four Workers Unconscious

A gas leak at the Vizag Steel Plant left four workers unconscious after being exposed to suspected blast furnace gas in the thermal power plant area. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, causing concern and prompt action from authorities.

According to Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) Deputy General Manager, J Mallikarjun, the workers were carrying out their duties in the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) area when they suddenly detected the gas leak. Shortly after inhaling the fumes, the workers collapsed, requiring immediate medical attention.

The unconscious workers were quickly provided with first-aid on-site before being rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, they were discharged later in the day after doctors confirmed that they were no longer in danger.

The leaked gas, suspected to be Blast Furnace (BF) gas, was identified as containing carbon monoxide, posing a serious threat upon exposure. The exact cause of the leak is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
