A shocking syndicate scandal has been uncovered by the Delhi Police, involving gangs that allegedly assured transporters of immunity from traffic violations in exchange for bribes. The syndicate reportedly collaborated with traffic persoel, manipulating them to facilitate the smooth passage of vehicles with illicit stickers.
The Indian Express has learned that key evidence in the 55-page chargesheet includes a WhatsApp group named 'D', a payment register for informers, complaints attempting to frame traffic police officers, and a black spy camera. The syndicate allegedly lured traffic persoel with bribes, filmed them, and then blackmailed them.
The racket was exposed in January with the arrest of three gang leaders - Raju Meena, Jeeshan Ali, and Rinku Rana. Jeeshan Ali's gang reportedly coerced traffic police persoel into paying extortion money and attempted to have them suspended. Police officers have seized properties worth Rs 2 crore acquired by Jeeshan in the last two years.
The chargesheet details how the syndicate operated, with Jeeshan Ali allegedly orchestrating bribery schemes, using moles within the traffic circle, and manipulating officers through threats and blackmail. The gang's intricate network involved middlemen, video-makers, and informants, all playing crucial roles in the corrupt operation.
The Saket Court received the chargesheet last week, and legal proceedings are underway. The Delhi Police continues its probe into the syndicate's activities, aiming to bring all perpetrators to justice and dismantle the web of corruption that has plagued the traffic enforcement system.
