Congress MP Karti Chidambaram Expresses Concern Over AIADMK Splinter Group's Inclusion in Tamil Nadu Government
In a recent statement, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has raised concerns about the potential inclusion of legislators from the AIADMK splinter group into the Tamil Nadu government. Chidambaram emphasized that such a move could have a negative impact on Chief Minister Vijay's goodwill and credibility.
The rift within the AIADMK became evident when MLAs SP Velumani and CV Shanmugam, among others, formed a breakaway faction and supported a confidence motion brought by Vijay. This faction, consisting of 25 rebel legislators, voted in favor of the motion, while 22 MLAs, including AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), opposed it.
Karti Chidambaram highlighted the importance of maintaining trust and credibility in governance, urging Chief Minister Vijay to reconsider the inclusion of AIADMK MLAs from the splinter group. Chidambaram's views have sparked a debate on the potential implications of such a decision on the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
