Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami commemorated the first-ever "Uniform Civil Code Day" at the prestigious Himalayan Cultural Center in Garhi Cantt. The event, held on Tuesday, paid tribute to the members of the committee responsible for drafting the UCC, administrative officers who facilitated its implementation, and individuals who contributed to the registration process.

He highlighted the longstanding tradition of harmony and equality in Sanatan culture, drawing parallels with the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Gita.
Dhami underscored the vision of Dr. B R Ambedkar and the framers of the Constitution in including the UCC under Article 44 as a Directive Principle of State Policy. He reiterated their belief in the necessity of a uniform legal framework for all citizens, commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the cause.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the UCC in Uttarakhand, a promise he made in his election manifesto ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls. He expressed gratitude to the people of Devbhoomi for their unwavering support in this endeavor, which he described as a "divine task."
Dhami highlighted the prevalence of discrimination, inequality, and injustice stemming from disparate personal laws for different communities.
