CBI Charges 13 in NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken a significant step in the investigation of the 2026 NEET UG paper leak case by filing a charge sheet against 13 accused individuals. The agency claims that the hospital complex was used as a means to access a chemistry question paper before the exam, shedding light on a well-coordinated operation.

The charge sheet filed by the CBI will be presented before the fast track court of Special Judge Anu Grover Baliga at the Rouse Avenue Court. This development marks a crucial turning point in the legal proceedings surrounding the case.

The CBI alleges that the questions were leaked by NTA panel member and translator P V Kulkarni. Subsequently, Shivraj Motegaonkar, associated with a coaching institute in Latur, is said to have obtained the leaked questions from the Siddhivinayak Hospital, managed by accused Manoj Bhagwanrao Shirure.

The repercussions of the paper leak have been severe, with several students reportedly resorting to suicide. The CBI estimates that the leak caused a financial loss exceeding Rs 600 crore to the government exchequer. The leak affected a staggering 2.27 lakh aspirants who appeared for the exam on May 3.

Following the cancellation of the initial exam on May 12, a retest was conducted on June 21. The results of the examination were eventually declared on July 16, bringing a sense of closure to the tumultuous events that unfolded due to the paper leak.
