BRICS Foreign Ministers Condemn Terrorism and Tariffs, Including Attack in Pahalgam
The BRICS foreign ministers, including representatives from China and Pakistan, issued a strong condemnation of terrorism and arbitrary tariffs during their recent meeting. The group condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed their commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.
Strong Condemnation of Terrorism The BRICS nations expressed strong condemnation of any acts of terrorism as criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation or perpetrators. They specifically denounced the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for accountability and justice for all involved in terrorist activities.
They emphasized that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilization, or ethnic group, and called for zero tolerance for terrorism without any double standards in countering it.
Concerns Over Tariffs and Trade Restrictions The ministers also addressed concerns about the proliferation of trade-restrictive actions, including rising tariffs and non-tariff measures. They stressed their commitment to uphold multilateralism to address challenges such as climate change and called on all countries to maintain and scale up their efforts to combat climate change in line with the Paris Agreement and UNFCCC objectives.
