The Bihar Cabinet recently gave the green light to allocate Rs 3142 crore towards the construction of Bihar Bhavan on a 068-acre plot near Mumbai Port Trust. The purpose of this project is to provide housing for Bihar migrants residing in the city.
Following Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Yashwant Kiledar's threat to halt the construction of Bihar Bhavan in Mumbai, the Bihar government issued a strong response. Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary denounced the threat, emphasizing that Mumbai and Maharashtra are integral parts of the country and not a monarchy.
Choudhary challenged the MNS to impede the construction of the 30-storey Bihar Bhavan near Mumbai Port Trust. Expressing disdain at the language used by the MNS leader, he affirmed that the Bihar government will proceed with the project without hindrance.
Despite the Bihar government's decision, the MNS has expressed opposition. On the other hand, the Rashtriya Janata Dal opposition criticized both the MNS's comments and the government's choice, labeling it as a misplaced priority.
BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan condemned the threatening language used by the MNS while acknowledging the Bihar government's policy decision. Meanwhile, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh highlighted the need for medical facilities for cancer patients in Bihar rather than investing in infrastructure in Mumbai.
