Congress Leader Pawan Khera Interrogated for Eleven Hours by Assam Police Crime Branch
Congress leader and advocate Aman Wadud revealed that Pawan Khera has been summoned again to report at the station on Thursday morning. Khera, who was earlier granted anticipatory bail by the Supreme Court, underwent an extensive interrogation lasting eleven hours at the Assam Police Crime Branch on Wednesday.
Khera's Legal Battle Unfolds The interrogation was in coection with an FIR filed against Khera based on a complaint by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma. The Supreme Court had granted Khera anticipatory bail on April 30, instructing him to cooperate with the investigation.
Khera arrived at the Crime Branch police station in Guwahati at around 10:30 am on Wednesday, expressing his respect for the law and judiciary before facing the questioning. The session continued until late in the evening, with Khera leaving the station at approximately 9:15 pm as confirmed by his lawyers to The Indian Express.
Allegations and Legal Action Khera had previously alleged in a press conference on April 5 that CM Sarma’s wife held three passports and shared purported images of documents suggesting undisclosed properties and a company in her name. The charges in the FIR against Khera include false statements in coection with an election, cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation, insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, statements causing breach of peace, defamation, and criminal conspiracy.
