In a bold move following a faction of AIADMK leaders voting for Vijay's TVK during a trust vote, party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has swiftly removed SP Velumani, C Ve Shanmugam, C Vijayabaskar, and Natham R Viswanathan from their party posts. These leaders defied the party's directives and sided with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government during the confidence motion in the Assembly.

Palaniswami wasted no time in replacing the party posts of the 25 MLAs and appointing new district secretaries in their places. This shakeup signals a shift in the political landscape of Tamil Nadu as the AIADMK grapples with internal dissent and the rise of new players like TVK.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK founder C Joseph Vijay emerged victorious in the trust vote, securing the support of 144 MLAs. After a week of intense negotiations, Vijay proved his majority in the Assembly, solidifying his position as a major player in the state's political arena.

The confidence motion brought to light a split within the AIADMK, with 25 rebel legislators supporting Vijay's motion. The final tally of 144 votes in favor included TVK's own MLAs, along with members from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, IUML, and even expelled AMMK MLA S Kamaraj.
